How to Play The Jackbox Party Pack 9 Remotely
The Jackbox Party Pack 9 is the BEST tool for your next virtual party or event. "Why,” you might ask? See, here at Jackbox, we are not only super funny and attractive game developers, we are also party scientists who have discovered a way to craft the PERFECT party for you and your guests.
The party science begins with our amazing remote conferencing technology. Thankfully, you don’t need to go to eight years of Party University to use and understand this incredible feature. Basically, it turns your phone, computer, or other internet capable device into a controller that can be used to play our games anywhere! Simply type in the room code, give yourself a name and, voila, your device is now a controller.
If this is your first time experiencing the awesomeness of a Jackbox Games remote party, welcome to the magic. We are so glad that you’re here (and might I say, you look stunning!). Take a look at our Remote Play Guide, with videos and helpful tips on streaming our games for virtual parties.
For those who have already played our games remotely, you’ll be happy to learn that The Jackbox Party Pack 9 includes all of the same settings you’re used to from The Jackbox Party Pack 8, along with even more. As party scientists, we take our job very seriously and have created the ideal mixture of settings for you to have at your fingertips.
Our Precisely Perfect Settings
Allow me to introduce the settings for The Jackbox Party Pack 9. After doing this 10 times (including The Jackbox Party Starter), it’s safe to say that we have learned and changed a lot with each version.
The first change in The Jackbox Party Pack 9 is a huge one. The creation of the wheel, the moon landing, and sliced bread are dwarfed by the feats accomplished by our party scientists. That’s right folks, we’re talking about the ability to kick players, both in the lobby OR in game. This huge change was only rumored to be possible, but with a team of party scientists like ours, truly anything is possible. This is something that has been in the works for years and is finally now a reality.
The creation of this feature was in response to all of the feedback that we’ve received from our community, so thank you very much for your comments and for bearing with us, as this is something that we have been working on for a long time.
Other notable additions to this pack include QR code sign-in and host reconnects. You will now be able to use the camera on your mobile device to scan a QR code on the game screen that pulls up Jackbox.tv, with the room code already entered.
If the host somehow loses their connection to the server mid-game, gameplay won’t automatically be destroyed. The game will essentially pause for five minutes and give the host time to reestablish a connection. Game data or players will not be lost, so you can finish your round!
These new features, including timer adjustment, subtitles, family-friendly filter, and Twitch login requirements, allow you to create the perfect Jackbox party experience.

How do people join my remote party?
Does your family live 1000 miles away and the only way to communicate with them is online? Trying to stay in touch with that one friend who decided to go “find himself” in Spain? No problem!
The Jackbox Party Pack 9 works perfectly with video chatting sites, such as Zoom, Google Meet, Skype, FaceTime, and Discord. In fact, a lot of our party scientists work remotely thousands of miles away from our Jackbox lab, and we prefer to use the Discord video chat option for our own remote game nights.
All you have to do is share your screen with your participants, visit Jackbox.tv on any internet browsing service (or scan the QR Code), and log into the game using the 4-letter code that pops on the screen. When using any of these sites, just be sure to share audio and video so everyone can see and hear the games/instructions!
The Ultimate Concoction of Games
To create the perfect party, you have to start with the perfect line-up of games. The Jackbox Party Pack 9 comes with 5 brand new party games that are great for all party sizes, ages, and groups. When I say all, I mean ALL groups will have something that they love about this party pack.
With so many settings/ways to play, it can be tough to know where to start. We usually take into account how many people we have at our party and what type of games our party-goers would like to play.
All of the games in this pack can be played with a max of 8-10 players, depending on the game, but can also have up to 10,000 audience members playing along as well. Roomerang has a minimum of 4 players, while Junktopia, Fibbage 4 and Nonsensory have a minimum of 3 players, so you’ll need at least that many attendees to play these games at your party. If you are considering streaming our games or maybe playing with your family, you can alway turn on the profanity and family-friendly filters.
For smaller groups of just two people, Quixort is a fantastic option! This trivia-based game is perfect for groups small and large trying to test their knowledge, while still goofing around and having a great time. Quixort is the only game that can be played solo, and it includes Quixort Forever mode which allows a single player or team to see how long they can place blocks before topping out.
If you’re using a streaming service like Twitch, YouTube, or TikTok to play remotely, you might want to consider hiding the room code from the host screen and privately sharing it with your guests via text or chat. Additionally, you can set up a passworded game or require a Twitch Login to avoid random party-crashers.
Enjoy your perfect virtual party.
