Safety and Moderation: Streaming Jackbox Games
Streaming Jackbox Games is all fun and, well, games, until a troll comes along and says something inappropriate. This is why we have safety and moderation features in our games to help protect your streams! If you’re not already familiar with our moderation tools, this blog is for you!
How to protect your Jackbox stream
Our newest releases, including The Jackbox Party Pack 9, provide you with many safety features in the settings menu:
- Profanity Filter: Prevents offensive user-generated content from being inputted into the game. Choose between None/Moderate/Strict.
- Moderation: Manual moderation and filtering of user-generated content available in Party Pack 7, 8, and 9
- Kick Players: Remove unwanted or AFK players from Party Pack 9 games
- Family-Friendly Filter: Removes suggestive in-game content (but does not filter out user-generated content).
- Require Twitch Login: Players will have to sign into their Twitch accounts to join the game.
- Passworded Rooms: Creates a unique password that players must enter in addition to the room code for when you need an extra layer of security.
- Room Code Hiding: Helpful when streamers want to display the game lobby but are sharing the room code with players privately elsewhere.
- Start Game from Controller: Toggle this on when you want to start the game from the device running the game and not the VIP’s controller. It helps keep control in the host’s hands in case they aren’t the first player to join!
- Player Limits: Set how many players can join the game before you start.
When playing or streaming in public, be mindful of who has access to your game. We recommend playing our games with people you know and trust, though that may be a little more complicated while streaming. Understand that sharing your room code in our games allows for anyone to join, but using our moderation tools prior to going live can help mitigate unsavory behaviors!
GamesHotline.org offers great insight and instruction on how to set up your streams for added safety. They list detailed information for you to review which helps establish better safety habits for your stream.
In combination with GamesHotline.org’s available information about protecting yourself online as well as our moderation tools, you’ll be able to create a safer environment where both you and your audience can enjoy our games.
At the end of the day, you are responsible for your own channel, but utilizing our moderation features will help minimize unwanted activity in your games. Set these tools up before going live and you’ll feel more prepared to handle a troll that comes your way!
