The Perfect $10 Game for your Holiday Gathering

It’s that time of year again. I’m so grateful, and also SO BUSY.

Here’s my social schedule for LITERALLY JUST THE NEXT FEW DAYS:

Thursday - anniversary hang with my partner

Friday - hosting a holiday party

Saturday - attending a holiday party (different set of friends)

Sunday - dinner with my partner’s family

Monday - going to see my family

And look, I’m great at making pies. Exceptional, even. But do I have time for that with alllll this going on? No, dawg. I’m opening that holiday party potluck spreadsheet and I’m marking myself down to bring the vibes.

I’m not kidding, I literally did that.

That’s right, buddy. I’m bringing The Jackbox Survey Scramble to allll these gatherings, and let me tell you why you should, too.

First of all: What is The Jackbox Survey Scramble?

The Jackbox Survey Scramble is Jackbox Games’ latest release, available now on major platforms for just $9.99 USD (and even cheaper for Black Friday in some storefronts). Your job as a player is to find the right one-word response to a question. With four different game modes, sometimes that means finding the MOST popular one-word response, the LEAST popular one-word response, or something midway down the list.

Learn more about all four game modes here. Then, check out this blog to learn about the two brand new game modes coming in a free update later this year.

Now, the part where I convince you why this is the perfect game for every possible type of holiday gathering you could be attending in 2024.

Survey Scramble for your Holiday Date Night

The Jackbox Survey Scramble supports as few as two players, making this a great addition to your game night/date night rotation. My partner and I are fiercely competitive, and all four game modes allow us to compete and still enjoy each other at the end of the night.

We personally enjoy selecting “tour” in the game menu — an option that takes you through all four game modes consecutively. This tour starts with Hilo, where you’ll try finding the top and bottom answers on a list. Then, Speed, where you’ll attempt to find as many answers on the list as you can before running out of time. We’re also an avid reality tv household, so the fact that we missed some top 10 answers in this Speed round shocked us:

Don’t ask us why we named ourselves “Gravy” and “Ham.” Some things should stay between couples…

Squares and Bounce round out the tour, which I’ll get into more later. There’s a lot of variety here, and in this “tour,” we often find that each of us will win two game modes creating a tie. It keeps the peace.

Survey Scramble for your holiday party with friends, family, or coworkers

The Jackbox Survey Scramble supports up to 10 players in the game, making it a great game for holiday parties. And in these group settings, the game modes Squares and Bounce can lead to some pretty funny discussions.

In Squares, players will be divided into teams. You can choose your team, so no need to worry about being on a team with Derek from finance at your holiday work party. Derek sucks and we all know why.

Each team attempts to guess one-word survey answers within a certain range of popularity in order to select a square on a tic-tac-toe like board. Just like in tic-tac-toe, the winning team needs to secure three squares in a line.

Bounce similarly splits players into teams. Both teams will form paddles that appear at the bottom of the screen to keep a ball in motion. The placement of the paddle corresponds to the popularity of the survey answer being guessed. This game mode increases in intensity as guesses go on, speed escalates, and paddles shrink when reused.

The Jackbox Survey Scramble is rated T for Teen, and skews pretty family-friendly overall. However, if you’re planning a holiday party with rowdy, foul-mouthed friends, you may want to check out The Jackbox Naughty Pack.

We hope to help you bring some extra merriment to all your holiday gatherings this year with The Jackbox Survey Scramble. Happy Holidays!
