Why Jackbox Games Are the Best Pick Me Ups

Do you ever get tired of living through unprecedented times? Are you tired of being a prisoner to social media? Do you ever just want an indoor activity for you and your buddies to just simply enjoy?
If you’re like me, you have been experiencing a lot of unprecedented times in your adulthood that takes a bit away from the whimsy of life. But what if I told you, even just for a moment, you can enjoy yourself and all you need are friends, a couch, your phone, and your favorite Party Pack!
A couple weeks ago, my friends and I had a gray cloud hanging over our heads, just feeling down and grumpy. We didn’t want to be on social media. We didn’t feel like watching anything. We didn’t know what to do with ourselves.
But then I remembered: We have Jackbox Party Packs! We turned on the TV, opened up Quiplash 3, and the laughs that were laughed had almost a healing aspect to them. At one point, I was laughing so hard my chest and stomach were aching (in a good way).
It reminded me of other times when my friends and I were able to find solace in the world of Jackbox, setting it up in ways where we could play via video call with friends in different parts of the country. Even with dicey internet, the quips and the fibs and the murder trivia was understood and enjoyed by all.
All of the Jackbox games give you time to focus on what is happening at that moment. You have to use your phone to play the game, barring you from doom-scrolling or texting your ex (yeah, we all know, you’re not slick). The competitive nature is just intense enough for you to want to try your best and be your funniest, but it never brings down the vibes.
I may be lucky, but there hasn’t been a Jackbox session where I have witnessed the end of a relationship like with other games. The silliness of any of these games makes the goal “who can make everyone laugh the hardest,” making the stakes high, but with a goal of keeping up the good time. But, if you are losing friends from playing this game, this is your reminder that sometimes, it’s okay just to have fun.
Now that we are in the colder months, what could be better than lighting pumpkin or balsam scented candles, drinking a warm drink, blanket on your lap, and inviting over or FaceTiming your favorite people for a game night? And the best thing? You don’t have to worry about a game board or pieces or cards (though Jackbox just made one of those if that’s your vibe). There’s no clean up, you usually don’t have to wait turns, and you get to learn A LOT about people you already love. Throw on your favorite pack and savor the present! Great for ice breakers, parties, and your favorite people. Happy playing!!!
